Lola Flexen

Piano

Lola is a Scottish pianist, born in Edinburgh. She began her musical studies at St Mary’s Music School before reading Music at King’s College, Cambridge, where she graduated with First Class Honours. During her time at Cambridge she was elected a Scholar of the college on three occasions for outstanding academic performance, and received several prizes and scholarships for her piano performance.

Awarded a scholarship to continue her piano studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Lola recently graduated with Distinction in her Master’s degree. She has been privileged to work with distinguished teachers including Helena Buckmayer, Kathryn Stott, and Annabelle Lawson, and has participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists such as Pascal Rogé, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Imogen Cooper DBE, Danny Driver, Ian Burnside, Andrew West, Erik Bertsch, and Steven Osborne OBE.

Lola now performs as a solo recitalist across the UK. In addition, her passion for collaborative piano recently led to her debut recital at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. She is also keenly interested in music history, theory, and analysis, and was awarded a prize for her musical writing by the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2024.

Alongside her performing career, Lola is an enthusiastic and experienced teacher. She has taught for several years in both schools and private settings, including at a primary school in Manchester before moving to London. She enjoys helping students of all ages build confidence and creativity at the piano, through mutually informed attention to healthy technique and musical understanding.
