
Sophie Baxter
Cello
Sophie Baxter is a cellist originally from Lincolnshire, currently studying a master’s degree in performance at Trinity Laban with David Cohen and Sally Pendlebury.
Sophie is a committed chamber musician, having previously performed at Wigmore Hall with her clarinet quintet and piano trio, and at the British Isles Music Festival.
She has previously been mentored by the London Symphony Orchestra and the orchestra of the Royal Opera House, and has worked with conductors including Antonio Pappano, John Wilson, Jakub Hrůša and Koen Kessels.
Sophie has previously worked as a graduate assistant at two of the UK’s leading specialist music schools; Wells Cathedral School and the Purcell School. She studied music at Durham University, and has a PGCE in group instrumental teaching awarded by the London based charity ‘Music Masters’. She also teaches at Blackheath Conservatoire and JASSPA in Dulwich.
