Virag’s musical journey began at the age of 9 when her mother took her to the Nutcracker at their local theatre in Hungary where she fell in love with the violin. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Budapest at the Liszt Franc Academy of Music where she finished with First Class. Then in 2021 Virag moved to London to pursue her Master’s degree at Trinity Laban on a full scholarship with Ofer Falk, where she was awarded the Director’s Prize of Excellence and finished her degree with Distinction. Since then, she has performed with orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra.

Virag’s passion lies in chamber music. During the 2025-26 academic year her string quartet, the Holtág Quartet, was selected to pilot the Ensemble Pathways course at Trinity Laban – a new diploma course dedicated to chamber music. Within their first year, the quartet were finalists in the 2025 Cavatina Intercollegiate Competition at Wigmore Hall, received the Sir John Barbirolli Prize for String Quartets, and made their debut on BBC Radio 3 In Tune.

Virag also teaches in Dartford Grammar School and James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts and has an extensive teaching experience spanning all ages and levels. She is a great advocate for the Kodály method – as she grew up in Kecskemet, Kodály’s hometown– which she implements in her teaching practice as well. She is very much looking forward to inspiring the next generation of violinists on their own musical journeys.
